Episode 24 of Never Stop Dreaming Biggie
Are you successful but feeling unfulfilled? Accomplished in business but sensing there’s something deeper calling you? You’re not alone. Many ambitious women entrepreneurs find themselves asking: “Is this all there is?”
In this transformational episode of Never Stop Dreaming Biggie, I dive deep into the difference between chasing achievements and discovering your soul’s true assignment. After 25 years of building businesses for accolades, losing everything during COVID became my wake-up call to understanding what I was really meant to build.
For decades, I was caught in what I call the “achievement trap”—constantly chasing bigger accomplishments, more recognition, and the next level of success. I thought my worth came from what I could accomplish, how many people applauded, and whether I could top my last big win.
But here’s what I learned: achievement seeks applause; assignment seeks impact.
When you’re focused solely on achievement, you’re always in a race. There’s always a next thing to conquer, a bigger goal to reach. You get your validation from external sources—awards, recognition, financial milestones. But even when you hit those goals, the fulfillment is temporary.
Your soul assignment, on the other hand, is about the work you were born to do. It’s about serving something bigger than yourself and using your unique gifts to make a lasting impact.
What comes naturally to you that others struggle with? What do people consistently say you’re “so good at”? For me, it’s bringing people together—community building is my superpower. I can do it in different ways, different settings, but that thread runs through everything I touch.
Ask yourself:
Often, your deepest wounds point to your greatest assignment. I call this the Sacred Scar Framework:
Identify your deepest struggle or wound Extract the wisdom it taught you Transform that wisdom into service for others Integrate this into your life’s work
Your pain wasn’t punishment—it was preparation. The struggles you’ve overcome uniquely qualify you to help others navigate similar challenges.
Your assignment requires going deeper than surface-level planning. It requires connecting with your soul through:
Here’s a truth: if your calling doesn’t simultaneously excite and terrify you, it might not be big enough. Your soul assignment often requires you to become someone you’ve never been before.
The fear is normal. What’s not normal is letting that fear keep you from stepping into your purpose. Fear is often the enemy trying to keep you from helping others and living out your true calling.
You cannot discover and walk out your assignment in isolation. God made us for community, and the enemy wants to keep us isolated, thinking we’re the only ones with “these issues.”
In supportive community, you find:
Look at what you’re building. Are you creating something for applause or for impact? Are your goals serving your ego or serving others?
You don’t have to quit your job tomorrow, but you can start taking small steps toward your assignment. Volunteer in your area of calling. Start conversations. Begin sharing your story.
This is crucial: go live on social media, send an email, tell someone what you feel called to do. When you speak it out loud, you give it life and things start to happen.
Find a spiritual life coach, join a purpose-driven community, or connect with others walking a similar path. You need people who will encourage your assignment, not just your achievements.
Speaking of community, I’m excited to share about our upcoming Divine Collaboration Panel on August 21st at IV Energetic Studios in Charleston. Alongside spiritual life coach and dream interpreter Luvie Smith, life coach Jessica Ruger, and Dr. Kate, we’ll be having soul-centered conversations about healing, alignment, and purpose.
This isn’t your typical business networking event. We’re creating space to get real, raw, and authentic about the spiritual work we need to do this year. As Luvie says, we’re in the year of transformation—next year is abundance, but we can’t receive those blessings if we don’t do the inner work now.
At 52, I finally feel like I’ve gotten into the car of my assignment. I’ve buckled in and I’m driving straight toward it. It involves everything that’s been part of my life coming together: community building, mentoring ambitious women, creating spaces for healing and growth.
The Brighter Side Society, The Holmestead Bar & Retreat, this podcast, and the book I’m writing—all of it flows from understanding my true assignment rather than chasing my next achievement.
Your assignment was written on your heart before you were born. The question isn’t whether you have one—the question is whether you’re listening for it.
If this resonates with you, I encourage you to:
Remember: sometimes it takes losing everything to find what you were truly meant to build. Your assignment is waiting for you to say yes.
