Hey!
Throughout my life, I've embarked on an extraordinary adventure filled with remarkable stories. God has bestowed upon me countless blessings, and now, I am driven to share these blessings with others. Delve into my story to discover more. Read my story
Hi, I’m Angel Holmes—founder of The Brighter Side Society, where ambitious women find accountability, community, and systems that make success simple.
✨Stop doing business alone.

“It was all a dream…” but what happens when your biggest supporters finally get behind the mic?
In this week’s episode of Never Stop Dreaming BIGGIE, I’m joined by my husband Brian (the famous “Director of No Fun”) and son Chase for an unfiltered live Q&A with The Brighter Side Society community. You’ll discover why family support is the secret ingredient that transforms impossible dreams into inevitable realities.
Here’s what nobody talks about in business circles: the loneliness factor. You can have all the business strategy in the world, but if you’re building your empire in isolation, you’re fighting an uphill battle. Most entrepreneurs are surrounded by people who either don’t understand their vision or actively discourage their “crazy” ideas.
I’ve been called crazy more times than I can count. When I started a photo booth business, people said the market was saturated. When I launched BevCon, they questioned the need for another conference. When I announced plans for a Caribbean bar, friends literally asked if I’d lost my mind. But here’s the thing – you’re not crazy, you’re just first. And when you’re first, you need people who will believe in your vision even when they can’t see it yet.
Let me get vulnerable with you. When I went through bankruptcy after BevCon, I was at my lowest point. Brian and I had just started dating, and instead of running for the hills, he stayed. He didn’t just stay – he helped me rebuild. When COVID wiped out my businesses, he was there again. And now, as we plan The Homestead Bar & Retreat in the Caribbean, he’s not just supportive – he’s actively planning the logistics.
My sons have been to more business events than most adults. They’ve stuffed name badges, moved tables, and probably rolled their eyes at my entrepreneurial enthusiasm a thousand times. But they showed up. Chase literally grew up helping me set up festival tents and conference displays. Riley has been my unofficial brand photographer since middle school.
These men didn’t have to show up like this. They chose to. And that choice has been the difference between giving up and pushing through in my darkest moments.
After years of building businesses with incredible family support, I’ve identified what I call the SUPPORT System Framework:
S – Show Up Consistently Your people need to be present for the mundane moments, not just the victories. Brian comes to menopause events with me. Let that sink in. That’s showing up.
U – Understand the Vision (Even When They Don’t) They don’t need to fully grasp your business model, but they need to trust that you do. Chase still doesn’t understand half of what I’m building, but he knows it matters to me.
P – Provide Practical Help Real support isn’t just cheerleading. It’s Brian handling the engineering logistics while I handle the creative vision. It’s Chase helping with physical setup at events.
P – Protect Your Dreams They shield you from the noise and negativity. When others question your decisions, your support system becomes your buffer zone.
O – Offer Honest Feedback Brian will tell me when an idea isn’t fully thought through. That’s not discouragement – that’s helping me build stronger foundations.
R – Remain Patient During the Process Building anything meaningful takes time. Your support system needs to understand that overnight success is a myth.
T – Trust Your Judgment Even when they don’t understand, they trust that you know what you’re doing.
Here’s what you need to do this week: conduct a support system audit. Write down the names of the five people closest to you. For each person, ask:
If you’re surrounded by people who consistently discourage your vision, you need to expand your circle. This doesn’t mean cutting people out, but it does mean intentionally seeking supporters who understand ambition.
This is exactly why I built The Brighter Side Society. Not everyone has a Brian or supportive family members. But every ambitious woman deserves a community that functions like family – people who will cheer you on, hold you accountable, and show up when you need them most.
In our community, women are finding their business sisters. They’re getting the encouragement their immediate circles might not provide. They’re discovering that their “crazy” ideas aren’t crazy at all – they’re just first.
If you don’t have natural family support, here’s the real talk: it’s going to be harder, but it’s not impossible. You’ll need to be more intentional about building your support network. Join communities like The Brighter Side Society. Find a mentor. Connect with other entrepreneurs who understand the journey.
Don’t wait for support to appear – go create it. Your dreams are too important to build in isolation.
Your Challenge This Week
Identify one person in your life who consistently supports your biggest dreams. Thank them specifically. Tell them how their support has impacted your journey. Then, identify one area where you need more support and take action to find it – whether that’s joining a community, hiring a coach, or having an honest conversation with someone in your circle.
Share your support system wins in The Brighter Side Society community. Let’s celebrate the people who make our dreams possible.
This episode perfectly illustrates why community is at the heart of everything I build. The Brighter Side Society isn’t just about business education – it’s about creating the support system you need to make your biggest dreams happen. Like Minded Charleston was built on the same principle: ambitious women supporting each other’s visions.
When we open The Homestead Bar & Retreat, it won’t just be a business – it’ll be a community space where dreamers gather, connect, and support each other’s journeys. Because I’ve learned that behind every successful entrepreneur is a network of people who believed in them before anyone else did.
Here’s the truth bomb: Your dreams will only be as big as the support system you build around them. You can have all the strategy, skills, and determination in the world, but if you’re trying to build an empire without a foundation of support, you’re building on shaky ground.
The right people don’t just tolerate your dreams – they become invested in making them happen. They don’t just cheer from the sidelines – they roll up their sleeves and get in the game with you.
