A personal introduction to this blog — and a deep dive into the power of the number 7 and why it has followed me my entire life.
Welcome to this blog — and to the power of the number 7. If you’re wondering why seven, let me explain, because the power of the number 7 in my life is not casual or coincidental. It is persistent, specific, and genuinely a little uncanny. Seven is the month I was born — July. Add up my full birthdate and it equals three sevens: 7/31/73. Seven. Seven. Three plus three plus one equals seven. It shows up on signs when I least expect it, in things I do, in patterns I notice constantly. The power of the number 7 has been a thread running through my entire life, and this blog is built around it.
The power of the number 7 is not just personal — it is ancient, universal, and deeply embedded in human history and culture. According to Psychology Today, there are at least seven distinct reasons why humans across cultures and centuries have been drawn to this number. Here they are:
1. It has been significant since ancient times. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria — represent humanity’s earliest attempt to catalog greatness. Seven was the number chosen to hold them. That is not an accident.
2. It holds profound biblical significance. The power of the number 7 runs through the Bible in ways that are almost impossible to overstate — referenced 735 times throughout the text. In the Old Testament, the world was created in six days and God rested on the seventh, establishing the foundation of the seven-day week we still use today. Seven symbolizes completeness and perfection, both physical and spiritual. The Book of Revelation alone features seven churches, seven angels, seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven stars. The Bible was originally divided into seven major divisions, and the total number of originally inspired books was forty-nine — seven times seven — representing the absolute perfection of the Word of God.
3. It is universally associated with luck. Seven represents the jackpot on slot machines across virtually every casino in the world. The cultural association between seven and good fortune is so deeply embedded that it operates almost as instinct. The power of the number 7 as a lucky symbol is one of the most consistent cross-cultural beliefs in existence.
4. It matches human memory capacity. In 1956, George Miller of Harvard University demonstrated that most people can retain roughly seven items of information in their short-term memory at one time — a finding so significant it is still referenced in cognitive psychology today. It is also why phone numbers in the United States and many other countries contain seven digits, not including area code. The power of the number 7 is literally wired into how our brains work.
5. It is the world’s most popular number. In studies asking people to name their favorite number, seven wins consistently and by a significant margin. Ask anyone to name a number between one and ten, and most will say seven — a fact that professional magicians have understood and exploited for decades. The science of numerical preference is real, and seven sits at the top of every list.
6. It represents completeness and perfection. Seven is not just lucky — it is whole. The power of the number 7 as a symbol of both physical and spiritual completeness appears across world religions and philosophical traditions with remarkable consistency. It is the number that signals that something is finished, full, and right.
7. It structures the world we live in. Seven days of the week. Seven continents. Seven colors in a rainbow. Seven notes in a musical scale. Seven brides for seven brothers. The power of the number 7 is not just symbolic — it is structural, woven into the basic architecture of how we organize time, space, and experience.
Here is one more thing worth noting: it is 2023, and if you add those digits together — 2 plus 0 plus 2 plus 3 — you get seven. Of course you do.
The power of the number 7 is why everything I share here will come in sevens — seven tips, seven resources, seven ideas, seven things worth knowing. Not just because it is my number, but because research on information retention and the deep human relationship with the number seven suggests it is genuinely the right amount: complete, memorable, and lucky all at once.
So welcome. You are in exactly the right place.
Lucky you, Angel
