To end out the week, I share my current story. After a 13+ year marriage, I decided it was best to divorce the father of my boys. We were and we are good friends and it was a hard decision, but something I needed to do for several reasons. My first priority after that divorce was to re-establish my faith and grow closer to God + Jesus. I took a year off of dating and spent time on myself and the boys as best I could. I also decided to move my beverage conference BevCon to Los Angeles–a huge risk. I was also planning to move out there for several months to organize the event. But God had different plans for me.
First, He brought me Brian–who I call my angel on earth. Neither one of us were looking for a serious relationship but when we met (after my year off from dating), we fell hard for each other. There was something special about him and about us together. The day of my divorce, at the last minute, I invited Brian to come to my celebration gathering I was having with a few close friends. He came and a few hours into the day, I ended up getting in a serious bike accident that hospitalized me. When I woke up in the ER, Brian was there and stayed by my side for the next several days and weeks. He took off work, helped me through emergency surgery, saw me peeing in a bed pan–he cared for me like no one else ever had and we had only known each other for a few weeks. As my mother said it best “he was a keeper.”
After the accident, I couldn’t move to LA. I still had the event there though, but it ended up being a financial flop and I ended up having to file for bankruptcy. It was another low point for me, but Brian was there every step of the way, helping me financially and emotionally and he got me through it. We ended up marrying only a few months after meeting and the rest is history. He is my most favorite person I have ever been around, my best friend in this world, and someone I love doing everything in life with. He is the best husband, father, spiritual leader, friend, business partner, and so much more. I am so excited for every day we have together and super excited about our plans for the future we have planned.
